The Fofonoff Plum, developed in Saskatchewan, is a robust freestone variety featuring yellow flesh and measuring about 4 cm (1 1/2") across. Its skin is a distinctive blend of red and lime green. Fofonoff is highly sweet and juicy, it is ideal for enjoying fresh from the tree. Also referred to as the Homesteader plum, this variety was selected by Wasal Fofonoff in 1973 and reaches maturity in mid-August.
Growers Note: It is highly recommended that you purchase a Canada Plum or an American Plum to pollinate our Hybrid plums, as they are self-sterile. Plum trees like fertile, well-drained soil. They should be planted at least 3-4m (12-15 feet) apart, and fruit can be expected around 4 to 6 years of age.
